Student ministriesat Christ Church are student-focused, Christ-centered, and lay-driven. No staff member, no matter how talented, could possibly connect effectively with the variety of students we serve. (Think about it: Even Jesus himself focused his attention on just 12 followers.) We are blessed with many great volunteers, but we can always use a few more. There are jobs to fit just about everyone, from chaperoning events to teaching Sunday school to serving on our middle school or high school ministry team. Contact one of our ministry team leaders to learn more about how you can get involved. We are called as church members to do everything in our power to ensure safe and secure space where the spiritual growth of all our children and youth can be fully nurtured. To that end, Christ Church has recently implemented a comprehensive Safe Sanctuaries policy designed to protect children, youth, and vulnerable adults from abuse. The policy will help ensure that we prevent abuse from happening in our congregation, that ours will be a place where victims can feel safe in disclosing abuse, and that we will do all we can to protect our volunteers and employees. All volunteers who have regular and direct contact with students must do the following before beginning service:
Volunteers must also complete Safe Sanctuaries training. If you anticipate participating in student ministries at any point during the year, we strongly encourage you to go ahead and complete the screening process. We would hate to turn you away from participating in a retreat or other activity because you haven't been screened. To get started, download the volunteer application, complete it, put it in a sealed envelope, and return it to Patty Groot, Lay Ministry Coordinator. You will be notified by mail when your application has been received and when you have been approved as a volunteer.
